Live Music at Morso
Vicci Martinez
January 7th, 2011, 8pm
We are excited to have booked Vicci Martinez January 7th, to play Morso.
When you first hear Vicci Martinez sing, you know immediately you are experiencing something special. Though only 26, Vicci writes, sings and plays guitar with the touch of a veteran performer. She turns her concerts into full-on events, taking her fans on thrilling journeys of emotional peaks and musical adventures. Vicci is as comfortable playing an intimate solo gig to heading festivals as she is sharing the bill with artists ranging from Sting, Annie Lennox, Jonny Lang, Brandi Carlile and blues legend BB King.
This event is Sold Out.
We have an intimate venue and this will be a great concert in our Americana Series with Michael ONeill Productions.
"The Lure of the Sea" the works of Giorgina Wells December 17th - January 15th
Giorgina Candelaria Wells established herself as a marine artist soon after she and her husband settled in San Francisco in the 1970's. While attending the San Francisco Art Academy, she was accepted into the American Society of Marine Artists. She eventually opened a studio gallery along San Francisco's waterfront, which quickly became a local landmark for marine enthusiasts.
Her popularity as a painter of all things of the sea expanded up the Western seaboard when she and her husband relocated to the picturesque fishing village of Gig Harbor, Washington in 1980. Giorgina's dramatic, detailed paintings of sailing ships beckon the viewer to the open seas. She is well-known for her stunning portrayals of the coastal areas of the Puget Sound, and her work beautifully reflects the character of Gig Harbor.
Giorgina is recognized for her commissioned works, including numerous pieces for the United States Navy, the Port of San Francisco, Matson Shipping and the Chevron Corporation. She is also an accomplished portrait artist.
Giorgina's innate ability to capture on canvas the spirit of the sea and sailor is second to none. Her works - primarily in watercolors and oils - are as timeless as the sea, and are to be enjoyed by generations to come.
Water to Wine is a proud supporter of the 3/50 Project. The concept is simple; spend $50 each in 3 locally owned independent businesses to help support your local economy.
This is a nation-wide grassroots project to help preserve locally owned businesses. The project raises consumer awareness that when you shop locally, more of your money stays local. When you spend $100 in a locally owned store, $68 stays in the community in the form of taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If you shop in a chain store that return drops to $43, and if you shop online the amount that stays in the community is close to zero.
During these trying times, what better way to show your support and give our local economy a boost? Do your part to help get the 3/50 Project up and running in Gig Harbor, shop local. Read more about the project in Gig Harbor Life.
